Museum: Hill-Stead Museum (Farmington, United States)

Technique: Cotton

This black velvet jacket features boucle trim at the front placket, collar, cuffs, and the hem. Accents of fuschia velvet are interwoven in the trim at the collar, cuffs, and along the interior of the hem. The large, bulbous pearl-like buttons provide high contrast to the different hues of black and the varied textures of the jacket. While recognized most for tea gowns and evening wear, Lady Duff-Gordon also designed suiting and daywear.
