The locomotives were acquired in 1889 by the Companhia Nacional (CN) for the Dão line (from Santa Comba Dão to Viseu), where theycirculated until 1947. These were standardized and would be very similar to the previous order (CP E80), which facilitated maintenance and operation. In the CN, besides the numbering, they were given names associated with the history and geography of the territory they were going to operate in, which distinguished them from those of the Tua, with similar numbering.
