It was founded in 1821, at the Academia Real de Nautica of Lima. During the 19th century it experienced movings between headquarters and ships, and since 1915 it has been operating in its current headquarters in the La Punta spa, in Callao. The Naval School of Peru is a center for higher studies at the undergraduate level, which is part of the Peruvian university educational system. Historically, its primary work has been to train cadets and applicants for naval service militarily, professionally and physically. Likewise, they also seek to instruct and train naval awareness in assimilated officers.
