Presumably painted to commemorate an important event in the life of the cardinal depicted, this scene and its figures, largely portraits, have yet to be identified. The lion and eagles on the silver and gold mace in front of the central figure probably reference the cardinal’s coat of arms. The ancient and modern architecture does not align with any known buildings.
