Dress, jacket, and belt of Thai silk; hat of straw. Balmain’s clever use of a contrasting color for the bodice of the dress creates the illusion of a threepiece suit. He designed it to be worn on the Fourth of July holiday in the US, but HM the Queen wore it instead to Paramount Studios in Hollywood, where Their Majesties met singer/actor Elvis Presley.
