Chilbo is a traditional craft that mainly decorates metal objects or ornaments by applying melted glassy glaze powder, and it first appeared in gold jewelry during the Three Kingdoms Period (57 BC to 668 AD). As there was only one blue glaze all those years ago, chilbo is also called “paran (blue)” in Korea. The two artists’ grandmother started working on chilbo and the family members have continued with the craft of chilbo for three generations. They present products that can be used as daily objects and alluring objects such as vases, candlesticks and incense holders. (Fieldwork Press)
