Museum: ArtsWestchester (White Plains, United States)

Technique: Acrylic On Paper

From the Artist: This two sided image came from the amalgamation of many discarded works on paper. Constructed and destructed over the two calendar years it was influenced by both the electron microscope image of the Covid virus itself and of the Seven Pointed stars utilized by Hilma af Klint, an artist whose show at the Guggenheim was the last significant exhibition I saw prior to quarantine. Hanging free in exhibition, both sides are unable to be seen simultaneously. The visual interpretation of a microscopic virus is buoyed by the symbolic use of the septagram as a Kabblistic harbinger of love and the Christain motif of protection. Two things can be true at the same time.
