Impresjonistyczny widok paryskiego ogrodu z Pałacem Luksemburskim w tle powstał prawdopodobnie w roku 1892, podczas drugiego pobytu Wyspiańskiego w mieście nad Sekwaną. We wrześniu tego roku, w liście pisanym do swego przyjaciela Karola Maszkowskiego, artysta relacjonował: „Malowałem trochę pejzażów tego lata i wielki czuję pociąg w tym kierunku (…) ja się już nie interesuję obrazami, ani malarzami, ani wystawami, ale naturą i moją fantazją”.
