Playful putti holding the family arms were often depicted on chests. They can be interpreted as symbols of the good fortune and fertility of the family. The wedding chest in the Museo Horne is a good example. In this case the putti hold the arms of the Rossi and Pitti families. The decoration is the work of Lorenzo di Credi's workshop.
