Cruets are small recipients that hold the wine and water used during Mass. They have a domestic aspect, as they were originally based on the much larger household vessels used for washing, both for morning ablutions and at the dining table. This pair of cruets consists of glass recipients partly covered in silver and with clearly European characteristics: the curled plant and shell motifs, acanthus leaves and profuse floral decoration, typical of 18th century taste. The silver base with handles stands on four feet. The set can be dated to the 18th century, as evident by comparison with a similar item belonging to a church in Bovolone, Italy.
