Artwork is always connected to the artist’s mind, life, and surroundings. Chuan-Lun Wu’s work is based on the experiences of the cyber generation, and using virtual means to symbolize its craving for nature. Museum of Taxidermy Chapter I repurposes photographs of animal specimens and digitally manipulates them to fit in a virtual, dense photo frame. In reality, it is delicate, thus representing the conflict between the natural and artificial. You Are My Nature: mini mimics a block of unpolished marble by removing the coating on plastic figures. This subtractive method is meant to reveal the human touch in every man-made object, thus presenting to viewers what Wu envisions is natural.
