In July 1943, Xu Beihong led some of the staff from the China Academy of Art in a trip to Guan County’s Qingcheng Mountain to spend the summer and paint. He traveled with Li Ruinian, Fei Chengwu, Zhang Qianying, Sun Zongwei, Yu Feng, and Liao Jingwen.
