The keeling (according to the unproven and unlikely tradition) of Admiral Jan van Nes' ship surgeon on the river Meuse. Under great interest, a man, hanging from a rope attached to the big ras of the big mast, is pulled on the Admiralty ship (left). On the water are some warships, yachts and boats full of people. To the right the shore with a mill and some houses, probably the city of Rotterdam.
