Biography:

Abie Loy Kemarre is an exciting and dynamic young artist who dramatically entered the art world with her early success in Europe and the USA. Born in 1972, Abie is the eldest of five children, and was born on Utopia station, about 270km north east of Alice Springs in the Northern Terrirtory. Abie definitely has painting in her blood: being the daughter of Margaret Loy Pula, a well-known artist from Utopia. Abie began painting in 1994 under the guidance of her grandmother, the acclaimed Western Desert artist, Kathleen Petyarre and other talented artist relatives. Abie is the granddaughter of the famous Australian artist Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Abie Loy Kemarre’s Bush Hen Dreaming paintings further evolved and she developed her own unique style. Abie Loy Kemarre is a member of the Eastern Anmatyerre language group and identifies with her traditional country at Iylenty or Mosquito Bore.
