Adriaen van Cronenburg (also Cronenburgh, Cronenburch) (Schagen, c. 1525 – Bergum, after 1604) was a Northern Netherlandish painter. He produced mainly portraits. Cronenburg was active between about 1547 and 1590, working in the provinces of Friesland and Groningen. He also spent some time in Amsterdam. Cronenburg is known for his portraits of the Dutch nobility and bourgeoisie. He was a master of the oil painting technique and his works are characterized by their realism and attention to detail. Cronenburg's style was influenced by the works of the Flemish painters, such as Jan van Eyck and Rogier van der Weyden. He was also influenced by the Italian Renaissance, particularly the works of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Cronenburg's works are highly valued for their historical and artistic significance. Many of his paintings are in the collections of major museums, such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Louvre in Paris.
