Biography:
Agneša Sigetová was a Slovak artist born on June 5, 1939, in Behynce, Slovakia. She studied at the Vysoká škola výtvarných umení (Academy of Fine Arts) in Bratislava from 1958 to 1965. Her work was influenced by new figurative art, surrealism, and magical realism. Sigetová's unique style was characterized by a suggestive poetic approach and expressive use of color. She was a member of the Slovenská výtvarná únia (Slovak Visual Arts Union) and Spoločnosť voľných výtvarných umelcov (Society of Free Visual Artists). Sigetová's work was marked by her struggles with illness and a difficult family environment, which she found solace in through art. She believed that 'the image is a miracle, a piece of the unknown world, which moves us into new galaxies.' Her artwork often explored themes of solitude, freedom, and the human condition.
