The Albertype Company, initially known as Wittemann Brothers, was founded by Adolph and Herman L. Wittemann and operated from 1890 to 1952 in Brooklyn, New York. The company was formed to produce halftone prints using the Albertype process, a variant of the collotype process. The Albertype Company published viewbooks of Brooklyn in 1903 and 1904, which contain images of Brooklyn including parks, buildings, and monuments located throughout the borough. The company also produced postcards and other printed materials. The Albertype Company was a significant contributor to the development of halftone printing and mass-produced photographic images in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
