Biography:

Alexandre Bida, also known as Bida, was a French artist born in Paris in 1813 and died in 1895. He was a well-known artist for his exhibition shows during the period between 1840 and 1860. Bida was particularly recognized for his engravings and drawings, and became one of the finest draughtsmen of the 19th century. He abandoned a career as a teacher of classics to study with Eugène Delacroix. During his youth, he traveled and worked in Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, and Palestine, which greatly influenced his art. His works often depicted scenes from the Bible and other religious themes. Bida's most famous works are his illustrations of the Old and New Testaments, which he created during his numerous trips to the Middle East. He shared his time between France and the Middle East, and his art is a testament to his fascination with the region's history and culture.
