Biography:
Alexis Falize was a Belgian-born French jeweler and goldsmith, known for his innovative and high-quality work. He was born in Liège, Belgium in 1811 and began his career in France, entering the jewelry firm Mellerio Frères in 1833. In 1838, he founded his own jewelry house, Falize Père et Fils, which became renowned for its use of enamel and other techniques. Falize was a pioneer of the Art Nouveau movement and was responsible for driving its development with his firm. He died in Moret-sur-Loing, France in 1898.
