Biography:
Alfred Carl Fuller was a Canadian-born American businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist who was the original 'Fuller Brush Man'. He created the Fuller Brush Company, a multi-million dollar corporation. Fuller felt that products should be made to work correctly and to last a long time. This idea was new at the beginning of the twentieth century, when cleaning tools were poorly constructed and needed to be replaced often. Fuller set up a workshop in the basement of his sister's house and spent $80 on equipment and materials. He constructed twisted wire brushes by using a small, hand cranked device. He made his brushes at night and sold them during the day. The 21-year-old was determined to create the best products of their kind in the world. Fuller also became a self-made millionaire who changed door-to-door salesmanship into a viable technique for moving products—namely his Fuller brand brushes.
