Aluaiy Kaumakan is a Taiwanese artist born in 1971 in Pingtung County, Taiwan. She is a member of the Paiwan Nation, a leading noble family from the Paridrayan Community in southern Taiwan. Kaumakan is known for her interdisciplinary textile sculptures and installations, often incorporating materials such as textiles, fibers, copper, and glass beads. Her work explores organic forms and the relationship between individuals and their communities. Kaumakan's village was affected by a typhoon in 2009, and her work often reflects the importance of reciprocity and connection between people.
