Biography:

Anton Wierix II, also known as Antony Wierix, was a Flemish engraver, draughtsman and publisher born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1552. He was the son of Anton Wierix I, a painter and cabinet maker, and the brother of Johannes Wierix and Hieronymus Wierix, who were also engravers. Together with his brothers, he formed the first generation of engravers in the Wierix family, a prominent family of artists who distinguished themselves as printmakers and draughtsmen in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Anton II was known for his attention to detail and superb technique, and he produced a significant number of prints during his career. He died in 1604.
