Biography:

Antoni Esplugas Puig (Barcelona, 26 April 1852 - Barcelona, 25 March 1929) was a Spanish photographer and painter. He was one of the first photographers in Catalonia. He opened a photography studio in Barcelona in 1876. In 1881, he received the Cross of the Order of Elizabeth the Catholic for obtaining an instantaneous photograph in a quarter of a second. He was the father of the painter and sculptor Josep Esplugas i Puig.
