Biography:

Mayhing was an artist from China who was active in Canton between 1810 and 1820. He is known for his oil painting on canvas 'View of the Customs House on the Pearl River between Whampoa and Canton' dated 1813. Not much is known about his life, but it is believed that he was one of the best known 'export artists' of his time in Canton, catering to Western visitors and traders. He is also known to have worked with other artists such as Guan Qiaochang, known to Westerners as Lamqua.
