Benjamin B. Greenfield, also known as Bes Ben, was a Chicago-born businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and bon vivant. He was a milliner and hat designer, known for his whimsical and avant-garde designs. Greenfield was often referred to as 'Chicago’s Mad Hatter' and his hats were modern and avant-garde. He founded and endowed the Benjamin B. Green-Field Foundation and was also a well-known American hat designer. Greenfield died in 1988 at the age of 90.
