Bernard Lipnitzki was born in Paris in 1930. He was a cinema fan and took the examination to French cinema school IDHEC in 1949, but failed. He then followed his father to Venezuela. He was the son of Boris Lipnitzki, a Russian Empire-born French photographer of the arts, known for his portraits of famous artists, writers, and musicians.
