Bruno Magli

Biography:

Bruno Magli is an Italian luxury house that specializes in shoes and leather goods for men and women. Founded in 1936 by siblings Marino, Mario, and Bruno, the company started as a small business in the basement of their home in Bologna, Italy. The trio learned the art of shoemaking from their grandfather and began to accept contract work until the first Magli Shoe Factory (Calzaturificio Magli) was established later that same year. In 1947, the company built its first manufacturing facility, and in 1969, it moved to a more modern factory in Bologna. From the 1980s onwards, the Magli company opened over forty retail stores located throughout the United States, Australia, China, and Europe. The shoes were a major component of the 1995 O.J. Simpson trial, leading to increased sales for the brand. Bruno Magli has undergone several acquisitions, including by Opera in 2001, Fortelus Capital in 2007, and Da Vinci Invest in 2014. In 2015, Marquee Brands acquired the brand and related intellectual property assets from Bruno Magli S.p.A.
