Biography:

Carlos Runcie Tanaka was a Peruvian artist born in Lima in 1939 and died in 2019. He was a painter, sculptor, and engraver known for his abstract and figurative works. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima and later at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He was a member of the Grupo Nuevo Espacio and the Grupo Paralelo, two influential art groups in Peru. He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Peru, France, and other countries. He has received several awards and recognitions for his artistic career, including the Premio Nacional de Arte in 1986. He was also a professor and director of the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima.
