Biography:

Lotty Rosenfeld was a Chilean interdisciplinary artist based in Santiago, Chile. She was active during the late 1970s during the time of the Chilean military coup d'état. She carried out public art interventions in urban areas, often manipulating traffic signs to challenge viewers to rethink notions of public space and political agency. Her work has been exhibited in several countries throughout Latin America and internationally in places such as Europe, Japan, and Australia. Rosenfeld was a member of the interdisciplinary politico-artistic collective CADA (Colectivo de Acciones de Arte) and played an instrumental role in reigniting critical reflection on the role of art in society within dictatorial Chile. Her work has been featured in major museums including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, and she was a part of the Chilean Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015) and Documenta 12, Kassel (2007).
