Biography:
Cecylia Malik is a Kraków-based visual artist, performer, painter, and activist born in 1975. She is the winner of the Katarzyna Kobro Award for 2018. Cecylia Malik organizes protests and thinks of them simultaneously as happenings and works of art in public space. She is the co-creator of the 'Polyommatinae Collective' action against the development of Krakow Zakrzówek and the 'Water Critical Mass' – a cyclical event on the Vistula. Malik is the initiator of social and artistic actions, such as 'City Greed', in defence of the modernist Cracovia hotel, 'Polish Mothers at the Logging Ground' against LEX Szyszko, 'River Sisters' and 'Fashion for Rivers' for the protection of the last natural rivers in Poland. She belongs to the Save the Rivers coalition.
