A.S. Raman, also known as Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, was an Indian physicist born in Trichinopoly, India in 1888. He is known for his work in the field of light scattering and his discovery of the Raman effect, which is named after him. Raman received the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery. He passed away in 1970.
