Biography:

C. G. Schierholz und Sohn was a German porcelain manufacturer founded by Heuäcker Brothers in 1817. The Heuäcker Brothers were renowned porcelain painters who had worked for the Porzellanmanufaktur Plaue. After one of the brothers died, Christian Gottfried Schierholz, a Jungunternehmer from Arnstadt, took over the company. In 1817, he overtook the Porzellanmanufactur Plaue and moved a part of the production to Dornheim. Later, his sons Julius Adelbert and Hugo joined the company, which was then renamed C.G. Schierholz und Sohn. The company produced high-quality Dresden ware and is most famous for its Rococo, ornate Meissen-like, and Secession style porcelain. In 1849, the company became a pioneer in the production of lithophanes. In 1865, they converted production to only decorative porcelain—figurines, vases, and candlesticks.
