Biography:
Christoph Barthold Knuth was a silversmith born in Riga, Livonia, Russian Empire in 1787. He died in 1864. He was known for creating cargadoorslepels, which were used as birth spoons and given to ship captains by cargadoors or bevrachters in the ports of the Oostzee. These lepels were made of silver and decorated with banderolle and bloemornament. One of his notable works is the Kredenzschale, created in 1841.
