Claude Laurent

Biography:

Claude Laurent was a French craftsman and clockmaker who patented the leaded crystal glass flute in 1806. He manufactured about 185 of these instruments, with some being made of lead crystal and others of potash glass. Laurent's flutes were known for their ability to preserve pitch and tone during temperature changes, making them an unusual variety of the Western concert flute.
