Claudio Rafael, better known as Claudio Ethos, is a Brazilian artist born in São Paulo in 1982. He creates large-scale surreal murals using a minimal color palette and often depicts anxious, struggling figures in urban surroundings. His characters are meant to depict emotional and spiritual states with no accurate definitions. Ethos has had museum exhibits and is in important private collections. His murals can be found around the world, from Brazil to cities like Munich, San Francisco, New York, Colombia, and Turkey. He uses a ballpoint pen as his primary tool and has been active since the age of 15. Claudio Ethos' style is meant to connect the viewer with the surreal and unconscious energy of the city.
