Biography:
Dan Lam is an American sculptor of Vietnamese ancestry. She was born on June 3, 1988, in a refugee camp in Morong, Bataan, Philippines. Her parents fled Vietnam in 1986 and spent years moving around Southeast Asia before settling in Houston, Texas. Dan Lam earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Drawing and Painting from the University of North Texas and Arizona State University, respectively. She is best known for her 'drippy' sculptures and use of vibrant color, often using non-traditional materials like polyurethane foam, acrylic paint, and epoxy resin. Her work often dangles over shelf ledges, contrasting emotions of desire and disgust. Dan Lam currently lives and works in Dallas.
