Deborah Kay Butterfield is an American sculptor, born on May 7, 1949, in San Diego, California. She is best known for her semi-abstract and elegant sculptures of horses, which she creates using natural and found materials such as metal, wood, and recycled metal. Butterfield's work is influenced by her love for horses and her desire to capture their essence and spirit in her art. She is married to the sculptor John Buck and divides her time between a farm in Bozeman, Montana, and studio space in Hawaii.
