Ding Yanyong (Chinese: 丁衍鏞; pinyin: Dīng Yǎnyōng; April 15, 1902 – April 15, 1978), also known as Ting Yin Yung, was a Chinese painter and educator. He was born in Gaozhou, Guangdong, and died in Taipei, Taiwan. Ding was a prominent figure in the Chinese art world, known for his unique style that blended traditional Chinese painting techniques with Western modern art influences. He was hailed as the 'Matisse of the East' and the 'Bada Shanren of modern times'. Ding studied art in China and later in France, where he was exposed to the works of Western modern artists such as Matisse and Picasso. He returned to China in the 1930s and became a leading figure in the revival of ancient Chinese painting techniques. Ding was also a respected art educator, serving as the president of the China Academy of Art and the National Taiwan Normal University. His works are highly sought after by collectors and can be found in museums and private collections around the world.
