Biography:

Dirk van Oosterhoudt was a Dutch Old Masters painter who was born in 1756. He received lessons in Tiel from Roeland van Eynden and was trained at the Staatliche Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf by hofschilder Lambert Krahe. His brother Adrianus was not only active as a silversmith but also as an oil miller, while Dirk ran a spinning mill for coarse yarn as a sideline. Together they were involved in the Tielse Kunstkring, a society of artists and art lovers in Tiel. Dirk van Oosterhoudt died in Tiel in 1830.
