Biography:
Dmitry Klimenko is a Russian artist sculptor born on August 22, 1969, in Nezhin, Chernigov Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. He graduated from the Odessa Higher Artillery Command School in 1991 and served in artillery units of the army and navy. In 1994, he was the first in the Navy to conduct artillery firing at coastal targets from a self-propelled gun. He began carving in sand in 2004, after finishing Saint Petersburg State Academy of Art. He is known for his sculptures depicting historical and mythological figures, including the sculpture 'Rurik who build Russia'. He has participated in international festivals and competitions in countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, USA, Mexico, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Lithuania, and Norway. He works with wood, bronze, ceramics, as well as short-lived materials such as sand and ice.
