Edward Andrzej Gorol was a Polish sculptor and medalist born on July 23, 1930, in Mikołów, Poland. He passed away on January 10, 2003, in Warsaw. Gorol is known for creating many Polish state and military decorations. His mother was a pianist, and his father introduced him to the sound of metal at a young age, which inspired his future work with iron and steel. Gorol studied art in Kraków and Warsaw, graduating with a degree in sculpture and medal-making in 1955. From 1959 to 1961, he served as the organizer and curator of the Numismatic Museum at the State Mint in Warsaw. Gorol's sculptures and medals often depict historical figures and events, and his style is characterized by a strong connection to music and the use of iron and steel materials.
