Effat Naghi was a renowned Egyptian artist, born on April 5, 1905, in Alexandria, Egypt. She was part of an aristocratic family and was trained in music and mathematics from a young age. Her artistic journey began with private tutoring and guidance from her brother Mohamed Nagy, who was also an artist.

Artistic Training and Career

Effat Naghi's formal training took place at the Arts Academy in Rome in 1947, where she worked under the tutelage of André Lhote. Her work often featured Egyptian archaeology as subject matter, inspired by her husband Saad Al-Khadem's research. In 1945, she married Saad Al-Khadem, who was not only an artist but also a researcher, and his research greatly influenced her art. Key milestones in Effat Naghi's career include:
