Biography:

Elvis Richardson (b1965 Sydney) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores modes of recognition and memorialisation through the re-valuing of 'found' and obsolete personal and mass-produced cultural materials. He lives and works in Melbourne. Richardson holds a PhD from Deakin University (2018), an MFA from Columbia University, New York (2002), and an MA from University (1995). He is also the co-author of the book "CoUNTess: Spoiling Illusions Since 2008" which aims to address gender inequity in the art world. Richardson is a key figure in the Countess Report, an independent artist-run research project that advocates for gender parity and recognition for Australian women artists.
