Biography:
Emanuil Popgenchev was born in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. He graduated from the National Art Academy with a degree in Decorative Monumental Painting in 1967. Emanuil Popgenchev is known as the only contemporary Bulgarian artist who built his overall creativity in the style of Cubism and received international recognition. In 1995, the famous French auction house Druon sold all his paintings presented, creating a precedent for the Bulgarian artist. He donated 43 paintings to the Museum 'House of Humor and Satire'. Emanuil Popgenchev also composed the western facade of DHS, which was a donation to his hometown Gabrovo in 2003. He died in Sofia on August 8, 2010.
