Biography:
Engelbert Joseph Peiffer was a German sculptor born in Cologne in 1830. He studied at the Berlin Art Academy and worked as a modeler in Kellinghusen. In 1862, he moved to Hamburg and in 1873, he became the director of the stone workshops of the Hanseatic Building Society. Peiffer was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association of 1832. He died in Hamburg in 1896 and was buried in the Ohlsdorf Cemetery. A street in Hamburg-Barmbek-Nord is named after him.
