Biography:

Eusebi Arnau i Mascort was a Catalan sculptor who focused on sculpture applied to architecture, jewelry (medals), and funeral spaces. He was influenced by Paul Dubois, Antonin Mercié, Auguste Rodin, and Constantin Meunier, and brought many notable works of the Catalan Modernisme movement. Arnau studied at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts, where he was a student of Josep Gamot and Agapit Vallmitjana i Barbany. He continued his studies in Rome in 1887 with a scholarship from the Llotja school and deepened his knowledge at the Académie Julien in Paris, where he exhibited in 1895 and 1902. At his workshop, he had students such as Pau Gargallo, Josep Dunyach i Sala, Enric Monjo i Garriga, Ricard Guinó i Boix, among others. With sculptor Josep Llimona i Bruguera, he worked on the retable of the Basilica of Sainte-Engrâce in Saragosse. His sculptures were applied to architecture, such as those of Casa Lleó Morera and Casa Amatller [3], Fonda Espanya, Palau de la Música Catalana...
