, a renowned American artist, was born in Brooklyn in 1927. She moved to Chicago in the mid-1940s, where she spent the remainder of her life. Statsinger earned her Bachelor of Arts in art education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 1949, following brief stints at the Art Students League and the University of Toledo.
Statsinger's artistic career was marked by early success, including her participation in the Momentum salons—a series of exhibitions that took place from 1948 through 1957. This led to her first solo exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1952.
