Biography:

Evyan Perfumes Inc. is a perfume company founded in the mid-1930s by Baron Walter Langer von Langendorff and his wife, Evelyn Diane Westall, known as Lady Evyan. The company is best known for its fragrance White Shoulders. Baron Walter Langer von Langendorff was an Austrian-born chemist who studied violin as a child and attended Dartmouth College, where he organized a dance orchestra. After leaving Dartmouth, his orchestra played in Chicago and Atlantic City before settling in Los Angeles. In the early 1930s, he began recording with Rudy Vallee and George White's Scandals. He appeared in the movie Gift of Gab (1934) and the short film Sunday Night at the Trocadero (1937). He was married four times and had four children. He died in New York City in 1957 while working in sales in the perfume industry.
