Faustin Elmer Chaudhry, a renowned photojournalist, was born in 1909 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He is popularly known as ‘Chacha’ and is considered one of the pioneers of photojournalism in Pakistan. Faustin Elmer Chaudhry documented significant events such as the 1947 Partition, the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, and other important moments in Pakistani history.
Chaudhry was born to a Christian family in British India. His hobby of photography turned into a freelance journalism career. In 1934, he started his freelance photography while teaching science at St. Anthony’s High School, Lahore.
