Biography:
Ferdinando Galli-Bibiena was an Italian Baroque-era architect, designer, and painter. He was born on August 18, 1657, in Bologna, Italy, and died on January 3, 1743, in the same city. Galli-Bibiena was a member of the Galli da Bibiena family, a dynasty of artists that included his father, Giovanni Maria Galli da Bibiena, and his brothers, Maria Oriana Galli Bibiena, Francesco Galli Bibiena, and Alessandro Galli Bibiena. Galli-Bibiena was known for his highly ornate style of late baroque sculpture and architecture, and he produced a series of theatrical and other designs that are exceptional for their intricate splendour and spacious proportions achieved by detailed perspective. He was appointed academic of merit by the Academy of San Luca in 1700.
